Tommaso Toccafondi

Tommaso Toccafondi works in urban planning, spatial planning and resilience, with a particular focus on climate adaptation and the prevention, management and mitigation of environmental risks. His research integrates GIS tools, environmental modelling and ecosystem assessment.

After obtaining a bachelor’s degree in “City, Regional and Landscape Planning” from the University of Florence in 2022, he continued his academic career, obtaining a master’s degree in “City and Regional Planning and Design” in 2025. During his studies, he explored the topics of ecosystem services, urban and territorial resilience, and the mitigation of extreme weather events. Since November 2025, he has been a PhD student in Urban Future Studies at the University of Florence, where he is conducting research on flood risk and strategies for adaptation and territorial resilience.

He is part of the Circular Innovation and Sustainable Commodities Unit, contributing to research activities on environmental and territorial sustainability, ecosystem services and Nature-Based Solutions (NBS).
