Local Development
Federico Martellozzo obtained a Ph.D. in Political and Economic Geography from the University of Trieste in 2010. His research interests focus on human/environment interaction and could be characterized as Social-Ecological Systems’ Sustainability. Federico is particularly interested in the study of land development and resource consumption over time, especially in regards of the complex global environmental change, which unfortunately can results in critical land-use transitions with harmful consequences for both population and the environment.
In 2010 he was awarded the CBIE Postdoctoral Fellowship to conduct sustainability-related research at McGill University.
In conclusion, his academic activities are primarily driven by questions regarding how to adapt modern human development life-style to more sustainable paradigms, in order to preserve Earth’s resilience while supporting equitable and resilient human development.
Federico is currently Assistant Professor of Economic and Politcal Geography at the University of Florence within the Dept. of Economics and Management.
Fiamma Degl’Innocenti has earned a bachelor’s degree in Development Economics in Florence, studied Design Thinking at the HPI School in Berlin, and obtained an MBA in Service Innovation and Design in Helsinki.
Since 2011, she has created her professional role at the intersection of social innovation, business, and design, working with both the private sector and NGOs to support entrepreneurs and communities in Bangladesh, Italy, Germany, and the Netherlands. In recent years, within Philips, she served as Global Sustainability Ambassador and conducted research in various intensive care units to measure and reduce the environmental impact of hospital services.
She currently works independently as an innovation consultant and service designer on international social innovation projects, primarily concerning access to health, education, and behavioral sciences for promoting sustainable choices and lifestyles

David Fanfani, PhD. is Associate Professor at the Architecture Department of the University of Florence and Lecturer at the Architecture School. His main research and teaching fields mainly refer to the study and enhancement of peri-urban areas role in the framework of an integrative approach to local development and settlements sustainable planning and design. That particularly according to a bioregional/territorialist perspective. About these topics he authored manifold essays and publications, also at international level. Among them it he edited along with A. Matarán, the two volumes book Bioregional Planning and Design. (2020), Springer publisher. He is also appointed since 2019 as Chief editor of the Planning Journal -ranked class A by ANVUR- Contesti. Città, Territori, Progetti. Giovanni Camilleri began his international career by operating between 1980 and 1990 in various countries of Africa, Asia and Latin America with multiple United Nations Agencies including United Nation Volunteer, World Health Organization (WHO) and Unops.
From 1991 to 2016 he worked for the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in prevention and response to emergency situations, conflict management, local development and promotion of innovation as resources for the sustainable development active in over 40 countries.
From 2011 to 2016 he coordinated the Dialogues for the localization of the Sustainable Development Goals from the UNDP headquarters in Geneva and Brussels. The programmes he coordinated are characterized by two constants: the first they focus on the strategic value of the territorial dimension and therefore the potential of decentralized cooperation in local, national and global dynamics. In second place they pursue the articulation between different subjects operating on the ground in order to achieve the integrity, impact, quality and sustainability that these challenges require.

Circular Innovation & Sustainable Commodities
Patrizia Pinelli is an Associate Professor of Commodity Sciences at the School of Economics, University of Florence, and holds the chair in Sustainability of Production Chains. Her research focuses on the study of bio-components derived from medicinal plants and materials of biological and nutraceutical interest, the characterisation and certification of agri-food biodiversity, and the promotion of traditional foods and sustainable tourism initiatives. She is the author of numerous articles in national and international journals.

Marco’s research interests include social and environmental accounting, sustainability reporting, stakeholder engagement, social entrepreneurship, and non-profit organizations.He is currently Associate Professor in Accounting at the Department of Economics and Management at the University of Florence, he teaches Business Administration and coordinates the master’s course in Sustainability Accounting & Accountability.
He holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration and Management from the University of Pisa and was a visiting scholar at the Schulich School of Business at York University in Toronto (Canada).
He is a member of the scientific committee of the Yunus Social Business Centre of the University of Florence under the patronage of Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus. He is Associate Editor for Business Ethics, the Environment & Responsibility.

Luca Gori is a researcher in constitutional law at the Sant’Anna School of Pisa.
PhD in Constitutional Law, he is coordinator of the activities of the Maria Eletta Martini Research Center, set up by the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies and the Cassa Risparmio di Lucca Foundation. His main research interests are the legal discipline of the Third sector and non-profit organizations, regionalism and horizontal subsidiarity. He is the author, together with Emanuele Rossi and Pierluigi Consorti, of the Third Sector Law manual (Il Mulino, 2018).
He teaches third sector law at the University of Pisa. Collaborate with the Third Sector Forum, CSVnet and CESVOT.
Luca Bagnoli has been a Full Professor of Accounting in the School of Economics at the University of Florence since 2005, and Professor of Accounting for Cooperatives and Non Profit Organisations (NPOs). His professional and research activities focus on NPOs and measuring the performance of cooperatives. He is the author of various journal articles and several books dealing with the topics cited above.
M&E and Impact Evaluation
Fabrizia Mealli is a Full Professor of Statistics at the University of Florence and an external research associate at the Institute for Social and Economic Research (ISER) at the University of Essex. Her research focuses on causal inference, programme evaluation, estimation techniques, simulation methods, missing data, and Bayesian inference. She has published numerous articles and research papers in various scientific journals. She is an associate editor of “Biometrics,” “The Annals of Applied Statistics,” and the “Journal of the American Statistical Association (JASA) Theory and Methods.”

Nicolò Bellanca is an Associate Professor of Applied Economics in the School of Economics at the University of Florence. His research focuses on the theory of institutional change. He is author of several books and has published numerous journal articles. He is a member of the editorial board of “Il Ponte” and “Jura Gentium Journal,” and is on the Scientific Committees of both the Solidarete Foundation and the Per la Critica Sociale Foundation.

Andrea Simoncini is full professor at the Law Department of the Florence University where he teaches Constitutional Law and Environmental Law; he clerked as assistant at the Italian Constitution Court and has been Fulbright Distinguished Fellow at the Notre Dame Law School and Visiting Professor at the Nanovic Institute for European Studies. He is currently permanent research fellow at the Notre Dame Center for Ethics and Culture. Professor Simoncini’s main research interests are currently focused on Italian and European constitutional law, development dynamics of the sources of law, social rights, environmental law and the study of the interrelations between natural law and positive legal systems.

Giacomo Manetti (PhD) is full professor of business administration at the department of economics and management of the University of Florence.
Since 2015 he has been a member of the commission for accrual accounting in the Italian universities (COEP) established at the Ministry of University and Research.
Since 2020 he has been a member of the board of directors of the Opera di Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence and a member of the general council of the CARIPT foundation.
Between 2015 and 2021 he was the representative of the associate professors of area 13 “economics and statistics” and coordinator of Commission IV “Planning and control of the university system’s resources” of the National University Council (CUN).
At the University of Florence he was:
2015-2021: deputy of the Rector for budgeting and reporting;
2014-2015: president of the master’s degree program in accounting;
2015: deputy of the Rector for the international university evaluation system.
He currently teaches business administration in the undergraduate degree program in business administration and environmental and social reporting in the master’s degree program in economics.
His research interests include stakeholder theory, corporate social responsibility, sustainability reporting and assurance, third sector, and accounting history.
Since 2016 he has been a member of the Editorial Board of “Voluntas. International Journal of Voluntary and Nonprofit Organizations” published by Springer.
Local Development
Filippo Randelli is Associate Professor in Economic Geography at the University of Florence. Since 2016 he is Director of the Study Abroad program “Sustainable Agriculture, Food and Justice in Italy” for the Hecua (Higher Educational Consortium of Urban Affairs) consortium of American Universities. He carried out researches on sustainable tourism, economic geography and environmental economics, with several papers published on Italian and international journals. Since 2010 he is in the board of the Società di Studi Geografici and he is Director of the GIS Laboratory.
